30 Minute Treadmill Walking Workout

There are days where I am completely and utterly exhausted. There are days where I just do not want to leave the couch. There are days where running on the treadmill is just too strenuous for my tired body. So when I found this walking workout I was beyond ecstatic that I adapted my version from her. First off, I love Julie's blog. She combines her passion for healthy eating and exercise just like me. I cannot wait to try out some of her yummy recipes such as her Oatmeal Cookie Dough Overnight Oats, Healthy Honey Almond Hazelnut Granola Bars, White Chocolate Peppermint Popcorn, and Cinnamon Sweet Potato Fries!

I could go on about food for eternity. So enough of that and back to what I really wanted to get at!

Anybody can do this workout. Even though it consists only of walking, the constant increase of incline really gets the heart pumping and sweating dripping! If you are recovering from an injury, just getting back into the shape, or need a break from your normal routine, this may be for you!

Question of the Day

Do you follow any blogs?

I follow about 10 different blogs! They all deal with food and health and can be found at the right side of my page!

Guilt-Free Grasshopper Pie

I have a confession to make...I love cannot live without sweets. It's bad, I know, I know...but I figure I better live my life to the fullest and not deprive myself of the things that I truly love! Since I adore my chocolate, I workout daily to compensate for that passion and consumption of dreamy dark chocolate. And what's better than just plain ol' semi-sweet morsels? How about the combination of dark chocolate and mint. Yum.

From that mixture mentioned above one can safely assume that I like mint chocolate chip ice cream. That right there combines not one or two but three of my favorite tastes in life! So when I came across this recipe I just knew that I had to give it a whirl! And what better day to try it out than on Valentine's Day? So off to the store I went and picked up the ingredients. This recipe tastes as if it is packed with hundreds and hundreds of calories and fat. However, I further reduced the calories by using Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk instead of skim milk and a 100 Calorie Oreo pack instead of chocolate cookies. The end result? Pure decadence.

Guilt-Free Grasshopper Pie
1 package of 100 Calorie Oreos
1 package (1 oz) sugar-free pistachio instant pudding mix
1 1/2 cups cold, unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/4 tsp pure peppermint extract
2 containers fat-free whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
2 Tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips, chopped

The ingredients!

Directions
-Remove 4 Oreos from package and set aside.
-Crush the remaining Oreos and spread evenly on the bottom of a 9 inch pie tin that has been covered with cooking spray.
-In a large mixing bowl add almond milk, pudding powder, and extract. Beat for 2 minutes with a whisk.
-Stir in whipped topping and chopped chocolate chips.
-Spread mixture in the pie dish over the crushed Oreos.
-Top with remaining 4 Oreos that have been cut in half (should have a total of 8).
-Freeze for 6 hours, or until firm.
-Pre-consumption, thaw for 10 minutes before cutting (I enjoyed it best after microwaving it for 10 seconds!)
-Bon apetit!

Guilt-Free Grasshopper Pie
It is very difficult to describe how delicious this dessert is. It tastes like mint chocolate chip ice cream but in pie form! The average Grasshopper Pie has over 350 calories! With a few simple substitutions I reduced this count by half. So whether you are looking for a refreshing dessert for you and your significant other, need something sweet to bring to a party, or want to impress your family and friends, this may be the pie for you!

Question of the Day

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day?

Personally, I do not like Valentine's Day at all; it's simply a Hallmark Holiday. All I need on this day in mid-February is a funny card...but some dark chocolate and wine couldn't hurt either...

This is the only Valentine I need! (Ashley Hughes Photography)

Daily Morning Workout Routines

It's a new month so you know what that means...a new workout to complete in February! January was the time to go from flab to fab abs so this month I wanted to post a new task to achieve! February will focus on a daily routine that should be completed upon waking up and before starting the morning. It is a great way to wake the body up and jump start your metabolism! Another fantastic aspect about these routines is the fact that they take 5 minutes or less to complete. You can do it!

Question of the Day

Do you like new workout challenges?

I love getting a new challenge every month. It keeps things interesting and surprises your muscles to really get them working! With each new challenge comes new accomplishments and nothing can be better than that feeling.

Skinny Taco Dip

Did you know that on Superbowl Sunday Americans consume as much or even more calories than on Thanksgiving or Christmas? I am not surprised since this day full of football consists of booze, fried foods, and lack of activity. Want to be the hit of the party by bringing an amazing mouth-watering appetizer? And it can be our little secret that it's low-cal; I won't tell if you won't tell...

Skinny Taco Dip
-16 oz fat-free sour cream
-16 oz salsa
-1 packet reduced sodium taco seasoning
-2 cups iceberg lettuce, shredded
-2 large tomatoes, diced
-1 cup reduced fat Mexican blend cheese

Directions
-Combine sour cream, salsa, and taco seasoning in a bowl. Mix until combined.
-Transfer to a large rectangular dish and spread out evenly.
-Top with tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese.
-Serve with cut up veggies or tortilla chips.
-Dig in!

With minimal calories per serving (about 60!) one can go for seconds guilt free!

Question of the Day

Who do you want to win the Superbowl this year?

I honestly do not like either teams playing. Until the Cleveland Browns make it (yes it will happen one day!) I will just be watching the game for the commercials!
